Adoption Announcement - 3/16/2016

Sampson has found his forever home!

When Sampson first came to Safe Place for Pets, we were a bit anxious about finding the perfect family for this sweet, skinny, adorable, but mostly blind and deaf 15 year old boy. As it turns out, we worried for no reason – Sampson has been adopted by an absolutely wonderful couple who have rescued several dogs and saw how special Sampson is!! His new mom and dad already love him and it’s evident he loves being with them in his new home! The home is lovely and very neat and clean, which helps Sampson get around easily. It is also equipped with two doggie doors with some steps in between (which we questioned Sampson’s ability to master), but he figured them out very quickly and now he comes and goes as he pleases to enjoy the large, sunny, safe and secure backyard! Mom and dad affectionately nicknamed him “Little Dude” (and dad also calls him “Pinball Wizard” after the song by The Who!) and they have already been on several adventures together, including a day trip to where they will camp this summer, and a nice, long walk around Quail Lake, which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy. When he is ready for a nap, Sam will climb on his doggie bed and cover himself with his blanket until he is ready to rejoin the family. He is trying to warm up to his Chihuahua sister, Libby, but that may take some time. Sampson does seem to be able to hear a little more than we thought as he will turn his head when he hears Libby bark. He also seems to be able to see light and mom and dad are hoping that it may be possible to have at least one cataract removed to improve his sight.

Everyone at Safe Place for Pets wishes Sampson aka “Little Dude” and his family many adventures and memories together!! We can’t thank you enough for opening your hearts and home to an older, special needs yet so deserving creature!!

Adoption Bio - 1/26/2016

I am a 15 year old, blind & deaf Miniature Pinscher. I am on the thin side but very cute. With my advanced age, I am quite wise and you will find I am a well behaved and affectionate companion. I like to lie on my dog bed and snuggle under a blanket. Isn’t that cute? I am house trained and use the doggie door. I have had all my dental work and still have two teeth, which is plenty for me. Did I mention I am cute? I am looking for a quiet, relaxing home to spend the rest of my life in, perhaps that is yours. Contact Safe Place to meet me.
