Adoption Announcement - 9/3/2016

Hi everyone, it’s me, KC, and I have some fantastic news to share…I was adopted today!!

Can you see me smiling in my pictures?!?! From the first day my foster mom and dad met me, they knew I special, which is why they chose to keep me forever and make me an official addition to their family! Though I’ve had hip and knee replacements (my first mommy really loved me and took wonderful care of me!), I don't know that I have any handicaps. I try to sit for my treats, but my legs do slip a little. I love to nuzzle my head against my mom and dad’s knees when they come home so they’ll rub my ears. I love to be with my family and I follow my mommy everywhere she goes. She calls me “Black Shadow” because wherever she goes, I go! She sometimes has to use a blanket to cover a railing so I can’t see her if she’s working in the other room because I will bark to get her attention because I just love her so much! I definitely like it best when she works at the table next to me…I am so happy she works from home and can be with me and my fur brothers and sister, another Black Lab named Cici that she adopted from Safe Place for Pets last year!

Thank you to everyone who followed my story and to Safe Place for Pets for helping me when my first mom passed away – especially to my new mommy and daddy for fostering me and then giving an old gal like me a chance to be a part of such an amazing family! I am one blessed gal and know I have the kindest, most loving mommy and daddy in the world! Thank you also to Brown Veterinary Hospital and Buxton Veterinary Hospital for helping take care of me. I love my soft Safe Place snuggly blanket and know I will get so much enjoyment from it!

Adoption Bio - 4/18/2016

Hi, I'm KC! I'm an older girl, 14, a big quiet spayed female Black Lab, with lots of love to bring to your home! And if you knew my story, you'd know that I'm amazing!

I'm a bionic dog, fur real! I have replacement parts in the back part of my body and when I walk, my two back legs move a little slower....but they work great! My first mommy put a lot of work into getting me back into fine form and now I'm happy to say that I keep up with the rest of the pack! I wear a cool Ortho Dog brace for a little extra support and I come with little gripper socks just in case they're needed. I also use an elevated dog bowl to chow down! I don't need any help though and I'm just as sweet as can be and still like to go for short walks.

When I followed my foster mom upstairs to hang, she was surprised...but not really. She realizes that I don't know that I have any handicaps. And then I followed her back down! I've been going up and down a short set of stairs to the yard and yesterday, I got to go to Wag and Wash and did well with the car, although a little ramp might help. My vet says I'm in great shape and my foster mom agrees.

I'm potty trained, but do take meds for a little bit of incontinence (hey, it happens to us older gals!) so I need to be sure and get out when I stand at back door. And my water should be limited at night. I'm sleeping on a giant bed in the kitchen at my foster mom's house, which is totally cool with me. I'm super quiet...but I like to bury my head in your arm to show my affection and gratitude. I get along great with my foster brothers and sister, another big lab and two small dogs. I’ve lived with cats, dogs, and just loves my humans. I'd make a great addition to a fairly calm family and would make a nice companion for another sweet dog, cat or human.

Come meet me and love on me! And if I'm right for you, you could be my furever home.
